Melisande Leila November 2, 2020 Resignation Letter
The letter should sound more positive then it sounds, it should not be seen as the way out to avoid the termination. The announcement of the resignation is the first thing you should include in the letter; this is quick approach to give a clear intent of future course of action too. Having said that, the letter should always be written after due consideration and if there is still a chance of working in the same office and there is no good opportunity in view, just keep the idea of resigning in your mind not on the paper to be on the safe side.
Resigning from any job is difficult. Resigning mid contract from a teaching position is very complicated. When a teaching contract is signed, both parties intend for the contract to be continued for an entire academic year. Schools hate to lose teachers mid-year because it disrupts the students’ educational experience and decreases their yearly academic progress. Although this is something that schools do not like, it does happen.
Resigning from a teaching job mid-contract will most likely look very bad to future employers. They will logically conclude that if you have vacated one contract before its end, you would have no qualms about doing it again. Some schools, particularly those that are part of an education network, have unofficial ”black lists”. If you resign from a school mid-contract, you may find your name on one of these lists. Determine whether your school participates in this practice. If they do, think very hard about resignation before you follow through with your plans. Are you so unhappy in your position that you really want to risk your future as a teacher? You may consider finishing your contract, and then resigning.
Your resignation letter should not alienate or provoke your employer by the use of inappropriate words. As far as possible, try to conserve your goodwill and keep your future options safe. It is a small world indeed. You never know that after sometime, your boss may also leave the organization, and join again as your boss in your new job. There is another reason for you to be careful-reference and recommendation. When you are applying for a new job, the new employer will inevitably ask for references, sometimes from previous employers. It is best to be balanced and professional in the wordings of the letter, even if the circumstances surrounding the resignation are not exactly so.
A resignation letter is different from anything else, since you will inevitably become emotionally charged while writing it. Leaving a job can be a stressful experience. Sometimes, you can make the mistake of transferring these emotions and stress into the letter. Therefore, it is important to remember a few things when you write a resignation letter.
