Caresse Johanna October 28, 2020 Resignation Letter
A resignation letter is mostly sent as an email and must be addressed to the reporting manager and the HR. It’s not just an information for your boss that you intent to leave but it is also an advance intimation to superiors, and human resources so that they can find a replacement for your position.
The way that you leave your job is very important. It has implications on your personal life, your future professional life and your own self esteem. And the way you leave your job can be very much affected by the way you draft your resignation letter. Be objective and professional. Use words carefully and in a way which conveys your intent and purpose without showing your emotions. Don’t upset the employer by being reckless. Keep your goodwill, and keep your options open.
There is No Need to Give a Reason
Whether your experiences with your employer have been positive or negative, you should remember that it will allow you to be a better employee at your next position. The positives you take away will give you experiences to make you an asset to your next employer. The negative experiences also give you the background to learn that these ideas and experiences are not something you will carry-over in your next job.
Resigning from a teaching job mid-contract will most likely look very bad to future employers. They will logically conclude that if you have vacated one contract before its end, you would have no qualms about doing it again. Some schools, particularly those that are part of an education network, have unofficial ”black lists”. If you resign from a school mid-contract, you may find your name on one of these lists. Determine whether your school participates in this practice. If they do, think very hard about resignation before you follow through with your plans. Are you so unhappy in your position that you really want to risk your future as a teacher? You may consider finishing your contract, and then resigning.
Listing reasons for your resignation is unnecessary. Do not use the resignation letter as a time to vent your frustrations. Your employer probably already knows your reasons for wishing to leave. You do not need to reiterate them. Simply be straight forward and to the point. Plainly say, ”I am resigning”.
